michael parker | rain or shine

Michael Parker’s landscapes are layered, textural and inspired, whether contemporary paintings or resin on canvas.

“I love the looseness of painting these landscapes,” Parker admits. “I paint intuitively, working from my mind and starting with a blank canvas.  A lot of the time I’m not sure where the work will take me.”

With more than 20 landscapes on display at Gallery Oscar, visitors will be able to follow the journey of Parker’s work.  His atmospheric contemporary landscapes evoke rain and mist, with layers of paint building up to create shadows and intensity in the work. “The resin works contribute the shine,” says Parker. “The resin looks like sheets of glass – they’re flat, but three-dimensional, with movement and energy.”
